Fishing is the main economic activity at
Maradhu Island. There are over ten fishing dhonis which is involved in
Tuna fisheries in the is land. Fishing dhoni's sell their daily catch to
Maldivian Industrial Fisheries Company reefer vessels which are mainly based in
Maradhu Harbor. Fishermen also sell their catch to locals who make dry fish and
Rihaakuru, which they send to Male' for sale to earn the living.
AGRICULTURE
Cocoanuts and bananas are the most
commonly grown agricultural products in the island. Many households grow these
within the housing land plot and sell them to locals merchandise business who in
turn send them to local Market at Male' for sale.
